The bipartisan Senate version of this bill passed out of the Senate HELP Committee in July 2026.
Co-led the bipartisan Science of Reading Act, a bill to ensure state literacy grants are aligned with evidence-based teaching methods to improve reading proficiency.

Co-led a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to reverse the Department of Education's rulethat needlessly restricted the definition of professional degrees
Introduced the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Act to help states and local educational agencies increase access to school-based mental health services providers in high-need schools.
Introduced the bipartisan, bicameral Enhancing Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Through Campus Planning Act, which would encourage colleges and universities to develop evidence-based comprehensive campus mental health and suicide prevention plans.
Co-led the bipartisan Early Childhood Workforce Advancement Act, a bill aimed at addressing child care workforce shortages. This bill would invest in career and technical education programs focused on early childhood education.
Cosponsored the bipartisan Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, a bill that expands milk choices in schools while also supporting NY-22 dairy farms.

Introduced the Restarting Education After Disasters Act, a bill to strengthen federal support for schools impacted by natural disasters and severe weather. This legislation was inspired by the experience of Oneida High School which was forced to close for months due to severe flooding.
Introduced the bipartisan Teachers Are Leaders Act, a bill that supports teachers with professional development in coaching, community engagement, and curriculum design.
Introduced the bipartisan Immersive Technology for the American Workforce Act, a bipartisan and bicameral bill to strengthen workforce development programs at community colleges and career and technical schools by expanding the use of innovative immersive learning tools.
Introduced the Protecting Students with Disabilities Act, which would prohibit the Trump Administration from unilaterally weakening critical protections for students with disabilities.
Cosponsored the Department of Education Protection Act, which would prohibit any dismantling or restructuring of the Department of Education.
Co-led the bipartisan TRAIN Act, a bill to expand workforce development and apprenticeship programs at our community colleges.
Cosponsored the Rebuild America's Schools Act, investing in physical and digital infrastructure to improve our public schools.
Supported access to higher education through funding for Pell Grants, TRIO programs, and research initiatives
Supported increased investments for K-12 and early childhood education including Head Start, special education services, school-based mental health, and other key programs

Urged Secretary McMahon to reverse the decision to move special education oversight to the Department of Health and Human Services in July 2026.
Called on Secretary McMahon to reverse the Department of Education's plan to eliminate the Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) in May 2026.

Requested $772,700 to purchase quantum research equipment at Syracuse University.
Requested $694,800 to purchase equipment, technology, and personnel to support manufacturing workforce training at LeMoyne College.
