Military Academy Nominations
Attending a service academy requires a minimum five-year military service commitment upon graduation. Members of Congress may nominate candidates to four academies: West Point (USMA), Annapolis (USNA), Air Force Academy (USAFA), and Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA). The Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination.

U.S. Military Academy (West Point)
• Age 17-23 by July 1 of admission year
• U.S. citizen or national
• Unmarried, not pregnant, no dependents
• Resident of NY's 22nd Congressional District
• Meet academy medical, physical, and academic standards
U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis)
• Age 17-23 by July 1 of admission year
• U.S. citizen or national
• Unmarried, not pregnant, no dependents
• Resident of NY's 22nd Congressional District
• Meet academy medical, physical, and academic standards
U.S. Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs)
• Age 17-23 by July 1 of admission year
• U.S. citizen or national
• Unmarried, not pregnant, no dependents
• Resident of NY's 22nd Congressional District
• Meet academy medical, physical, and academic standards
U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point)
• Age 17-25 by July 1 of admission year
• U.S. citizen or national

Selection Process
Nominations use a "whole person" evaluation considering an applicant's academics, extracurriculars, leadership, character, and motivation.
Important Notes
Apply directly to academies in addition to requesting Rep. Mannion’s nomination.
Rep. Mannion's nomination does not guarantee academy selection.
Military prep school attendees: include a recommendation letter from your school.
For preparatory school admission, you must be no older than 22 by July 1 of the year of admission.
Applications containing AI-generated content will be disqualified.
