Co-led the bipartisan EMS Counts Act to ensure that EMTs, paramedics, and cross-trained firefighters are properly counted in national workforce data, leading to improved emergency planning and resource allocation.   

Cosponsored the bipartisan Combating Organized Retail Crime Act of 2025 to crack down on organized retail and supply chain theft and improve coordination among law enforcement entities.  

• Passed the House of Representatives 

Cosponsored the PUBLIC SAFETY Act to redirect the excessive funding given to ICE from the Republican budget bill and allocate it to local law enforcement programs. 

Cosponsored the bipartisan Blue Envelope Awareness Act to support Blue Envelope programs that promote safe, effective communication between law enforcement and individuals with disabilities. 

Cosponsored the bipartisan Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2025 and Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2025 to provide common sense gun reform that closes loopholes and establishes universal background checks to keep guns out of the wrong hands. 

Supported the bipartisan Assault Weapons Ban of 2025 and Closing the Bump Stock Loophole Act of 2025 to prohibit the sale of semi-automatic weapons, high-capacity magazines, and dangerous gun modifiers. 

Cosponsored the bipartisan Officer John Barnes and Chief Michael Ansbro Public Safety Officers' Benefits Program Expansion Act to expand eligibility for permanent disabled officers and speed up claims processing. 

Introduced bipartisan legislation to rename a Syracuse post office after Officer Wallie Howard Jr., arespected member of the Syracuse Police Department who was tragically killed in the line of duty. 

Supported increased funding for the FEMA Nonprofit Security Grant Program, protecting houses of worship and other community organizations from safety threats 

Supported increased funding for law enforcement programs to ensure our state and local police have the resources and personnel they need to keep our communities safe 

Supported firefighters by advocating for the National Firefighter Registry for Cancer, the development of PFAS-free turnout gear, as well as grants requested by local fire departments 

Cosponsored the bipartisan PARA-EMT Act to address EMS staffing shortages and help veterans become certified paramedics and EMTs. 

FY26 Community Project Funding  

• Secured over $2 million in funding to equip both the Syracuse Police Department and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office with mobile command units. 

FY27 Community Project Funding Requests 

• Requested $772,700 to replace aging patrol vehicles for the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office. 

• Requested $208,900 to purchase new patrol vehicles for the Town of Geddes.  

• Requested $627,100 to purchase interoperable communication equipment and technology upgrades for the police department in the City of Auburn.
