Cost of Health Care + Prescription Drugs 

• Cosponsored the Protecting Health Care and Lowering Costs Act and the Health Care Affordability Act to lower monthly premium costs, expand eligibility, and reverse the Medicare and Medicaid cuts in the budget reconciliation law.  

• Cosponsored the Lowering Drug Costs for American Families Act, which would expand Medicare's ability to negotiate drug prices, cap out-of-pocket costs, and put in place inflation rebates for private health plans. 

• Cosponsored the Restoring Essential Plan Coverage Act, which would repeal the harmful budget bill's premium tax credit eligibility restrictions and restore Essential Plan coverage for New Yorkers.  

• Cosponsored the bipartisan INSULIN Act, which would cap monthly out-of-pocket insulin costs at $35 for all Americans, regardless of their form of insurance coverage.  

Expanding Access to Care 

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Protecting Options for Seniors Act to help protect access to different plan options for Medicare beneficiaries across Upstate NY.  

• Cosponsored the bipartisan CONNECT for Health Act, which would make it easier for seniors to access telehealth services through Medicare. 

• Cosponsored the Healthy Families Act and the FAMILY Act, which would provide up to seven days of paid sick leave each year and up to twelve weeks of paid family and medical leave for workers nationwide.  

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Alzheimer's Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act, which would ensure Medicare beneficiaries have access to the newest diagnostics for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.  

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Medical Foods and Formulas Access Act, which would allow federal health coverage programs to cover medically necessary foods and formulas. 

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Autism Family Caregivers Act to help train caregivers of children with autism or developmental disabilities. 

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Give Kids a Chance Act (signed into law in Feb. 2026), which will accelerate pediatric cancer treatments and expand access to life-saving therapies for children battling rare diseases.  

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act, which would allow Medicare to cover multi-cancer screening tests and increase early detection for multiple different types of cancer. 

Supporting Health Care Providers 

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Reauthorization Act to prevent burnout and support the well-being of health care providers. 

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Save Healthcare Workers Act, which would establish federal criminal penalties for assaulting or intimidating hospital employees. 

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Provider Reimbursement Stability Act, which would stabilize the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and protect health care providers from unpredictable and drastic payment cuts.  

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act, which would combat our national physician shortage by expanding the number of Medicare-supported medical residency positions by 14,000 over seven years.  

• Cosponsored the bipartisan H-1Bs for Physicians and the Healthcare Workforce Act, which would help address Central New York's health care worker shortage by exempting health care workers from any future or additional H-1B fees.  

Other 

• Cosponsored the bipartisan SCREEN for Type 1 Diabetes Act, which would promote early detection and public awareness of type 1 diabetes.  

• Cosponsored the bipartisan Celiac Safety Act, which would require the FDA to classify all gluten-containing grains as major food allergens on product labels. 

• Cosponsored bipartisan bills to expand research, prevention, and treatment of Lyme Disease and other tick-borne diseases.  

FY26 Community Project Funding  

• Secured $358,000 in funding for Oneida Health for critical infrastructure. 

FY27 Community Project Funding Requests 

• Requested $1,000,000 for East Hill Family Medical Inc. to renovate their facilities and purchase equipment serving Cayuga County. 

• Requested $950,000 for Auburn Community Hospital to purchase a CT scanner. 

Voted and fought back against the disastrous Medicaid cuts passed by Congressional Republicans that will jeopardize hospitals and health care affordability. 

• Voted to extend the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits for three years after the President and Congressional Republicans allowed them to expire, forcing skyrocketing health care costs on millions of Americans. 

Led an oversight campaign pressing CMS to monitor and address severe patient care and safety issues at the Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing in Syracuse. 

At an April 2026 House Education and Workforce Committee hearing, pressed Sec. Kennedy on his unscientific claims linking vaccines to autism as well as his offensive statements regarding individuals with autism.
