Statement from Representative John W. Mannion on Vote to Extend the Affordable Care Act Tax Credits for Three Years

January 8, 2026

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Representative John W. Mannion (NY-22) today released the following statement on his vote to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits for three years:

“The House of Representatives sent a strong bipartisan message that despite the best efforts of Donald Trump and Mike Johnson to make people’s lives objectively worse - doing nothing to address the health care affordability crisis was never an option.

Allowing ACA tax credits that millions of Americans – including seniors, veterans, and working families – depend on for health insurance to expire without any plan in place is cruel and unacceptable. I urge the Senate to do the right thing and also pass the bill.

Health care in this country still needs serious reform, and the ACA can be improved. I’ll keep fighting every day and working across the aisle to keep costs reasonable — whether it’s health care, energy, or groceries — because that’s what families in Central New York and the Mohawk Valley deserve.”
