Statement from Representative John W. Mannion on Judge's Ruling that the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York is Serving Unlawfully

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Representative John W. Mannion (NY-22) today released the following statement on a federal judge ruling that John Sarcone is unlawfully serving as the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York:  

“Every community I represent in NY-22 falls within the Northern District of New York. My constituents deserve a U.S. Attorney who is properly appointed, qualified, and independent — not someone installed through political maneuvering that sidesteps the confirmation process and the rule of law.   

This ruling is about accountability and respect for the constitution and well-established legal traditions. It makes clear that the law matters - even when a president would rather ignore it. The people in the Northern District want independence, competence, and professionalism, not an inexperienced political actor like John Sarcone.”
